Amazon - WIP by ExtremeProjects Amazon - WIP by ExtremeProjects
a work in progress. I'm compiling a selection of environments to use in an animation next year.

This is a 4kmX4km terrain with almost 80 Billion poly's.
Murky water and a very dusty atmosphere are the focus of this really and the GR lighting really works wonders :D

hahaha, no, it took a dammnnn long time to render! the most i've ever rendered though was 781 Billion polys... that... well, it took a while for my computer to recover after the render finished. I'm not even kidding, it took about 25 minutes before it was fully responsive :P

Heh... I couldn't see the background trees properly earlier... the look reminds me very much of one of the early mission cinematics in TA =P

Very cool man, Lighting looks great, the whole effect makes it feel amost painted rather than a render.

I love this one much more than the previous WIPs you showed me. The framing is much better, but I guess you will have to go with a wide one later on since this is going to be animated.

I think the mexican palms are kind of messing the scene with their straight flappy leaves.

The lighting is just perfect. The whole is wonderful. I just wish the foreground pine was less out of focus. Did you use DOF?
A larger image would be great. But as test renders go, this is really stunning.

Back-lighting flares the vegetation up nicely. The water is good and the atmosphere is good.

You have bene getting some weird comments here "confused: I'll balance it out by saying it looks incredibly realistic all the way to the back. The use of smaller palms than the usual ones makes it more unique too. I actually watched Pirates of the Carribean 2 last week and noticed usage of Vue in parts, right down to the wind blowing the leaves on one of Vue's palm trees in the background while the characters were talking :XD:

I doubt looking at a computer monitor (especially CRT) would be a good thing to do with x-ray vision, right?
